Your keto diet is going great, and you definitely donā€™t want to sabotage it with all the festivities that are just around the corner. You need a plan to keep you in ketosis, so thatā€™s why weā€™re offering you these easy tips on how to stay keto during Thanksgiving!

1. Come mentally prepared šŸ’

This is Thanksgiving; Itā€™s a day where weā€™re grateful for the abundance, and we represent it with lots of food, so keep in mind that there will be plenty of it, and not all of the tasty plates will be keto-friendly.

2. Make sure you have a game plan šŸŽ²

You already know what traditional Thanksgiving meals will be served, and you know what your family loves, so there wonā€™t be many surprises.

Thatā€™s why itā€™s a good idea to have some alternatives to help you stay on track. For example, you can skip certain meals and replace them with others - you could skip Ā mashed potatoes and have more turkey instead.

3. Bring your own keto-friendly food šŸ„‘

Donā€™t worry, there are endless possibilities and alternatives that you can cook to continue with your ketogenic diet; you can even make your own keto-dessert! Who knows, maybe you will be introducing someone to a new favorite recipe if you bring enough to share.

4. Donā€™t expect everyone to love it šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼

For someone who is not eating keto and doesnā€™t understand why you are not eating the traditional mashed potatoes, and having a mashed cauliflower puree instead, it may be hard to understand. But thatā€™s fine! You can eat yours and let them eat theirs. There are no bad options here.

5. Make sure you have an answer for questions about keto šŸ¤“

You will be reunited with more people than usual, who might not know much about the keto diet, so be prepared to hear and answer the most common questions like: ā€œwhat is keto?, why are you doing it?, isnā€™t it bad for you to eat that much fat?ā€, etc.

Keep your keto education game strong, and try to avoid certain circumstances or deal with them in the best way without engaging in a big debate.

6. Beware of hidden carbs šŸ˜ˆ

One easy example is turkey. It is great for keto, but if itā€™s doused in a non-keto gravy sauce (made with flour), you could get kicked out of ketosis, so thatā€™s why you should be cautious with meals made with non-keto ingredients.

7. Keto Thanksgiving foods to eat šŸ—

- Turkey

- Ham (although with caution, because some has a sugary glaze)

- Low-carb veggies

- Nuts

- Cold cuts

- Cheese

- Salads (use olive oil as dressing)

- Red wine, water, and sparkling water.

8. Try to workout a bit or take a nice fall walk beforehand šŸš¶šŸ¼

There are a few reasons for this. First of all, because you will be less likely to cheat on your keto diet as you donā€™t want to counteract the workout you did that day, and secondly, because if you overindulge with food, at least you worked out.

9. Let the hosts know šŸ¤·šŸ»

If you are not celebrating Thanksgiving at your place, you should talk with your host ahead of time. Thereā€™s nothing to be embarrassed about, they may be open to offering some low-carb foods or at least will understand if you want to bring some food of your own.

10. Enjoy what you eat to the fullest šŸ˜‹

Even though youā€™re doing your best to stick to keto foods and drinks, Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate, so try to have fun, enjoy yourself, and be gratefulā€¦thatā€™s what the day is all about, right?

ā€

ā€HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
